Filming Update- An Empty House

Six intense days of filming ended yesterday, each day lasting on average around 10- 12 hours. I'm still feeling the exhaustion. We had a limited amount of time to use an empty house in Coventry, West Midlands, and an awful lot of scenes to cram in during the time. And I'm overjoyed to announce that we managed to do it!

Please find below a link to the latest update video chronicling the making of British psychological horror film Beautiful by Veeder Films. A heady combination of set dressing, filming and even some special effects work. Thanks for showing an interest.

Some Behind-the-Scenes Footage

One of these days, I promise I'll sit down and write something of a more substantial update on my Blogger site. I'm aware that for the past few entries I have mainly used it to link to my YouTube channel, and that makes me feel somewhat guilty- perhaps I need to more evenly distribute my energy more equally between the visual media and written forms of communication.

Below you will find a behind-the-scenes video of yesterday's shoot of my British psychological horror film, beautiful. It's the first time I've filmed in almost a year, and to add to pressure, we had only 3 hours to set up and complete filming. Thankfully we did it. I have some concerns about a background buzz of equipment being captured quite loudly behind dialogue, and I'll have to consider how to amend this upon reaching the editing phase. Still, we did it, and it's been such an ongoing struggle to try and locate a bar, that I am HUGELY relieved!

Enjoy the video, I hope it conveys how well-humoured cast and crew are, I'm incredibly lucky to surround myself with the people I do. For those of you who are able to please comment and rate, it's always fantastic to get feedback from others.

Happy New (ish) Year!

Goodness, 2013 already! It is quite terrifying how quickly time flies by. We have been filming beautiful for around 18 months now, in total. Christmas, as i learnt last year, is a bad time to schedule filming. People want to relax, see friends and family, and, if I'm completely honest, i was grateful for it. Not a hugely inspiring sentiment, but the idea of 3 weeks of annual leave where I could just enjoy food and family and friends was exactly what I needed. Though filming can provide a fantastic contrast to my day-to-day-work, it is not exactly restful, and at this point in time, rest is what I needed.

It was also a lovely opportunity to just hang out with some of the cast and crew, who I consider to be friends. And though filming can be a very sociable thing, there's something really nice about just catching up with people I've grown close to over a bite to eat, where there isn't the time pressure of knowing I have a scene to complete.

Having said that, I haven't been COMPLETELY unproductive, and present below a second trailer for my independent British horror film Beautiful. It's partially a way of reflecting on how much new footage we have captured in the past year, since I last put together a preview for the film. I suppose the intention is to keep people interested, including cast and crew, but I don't it's a cynical intention- I think people need a glimpse of what it is we are walking towards, and as work has prevented me from editing full scenes as of late, this is at least some idea of where the film is heading.

Enjoy it, my fellow bloggers, and I'll be sure to keep you updated once filming resumes!
